About

Camille Villanueva, a prominent slow fashion designer, is celebrated for her innovative approach to integrating traditional Filipino textiles and techniques with contemporary fashion. Her journey began with a vintage boutique named Baul in Makati, where she initially sold vintage dresses. As these became hard to come by, Camille started creating vintage-inspired dresses, each batch selling out quickly. This early success in design prompted her to pursue it further. Eventually, she closed the boutique and moved to London to study at Central Saint Martins, where she specialized in couture tailoring and draping, refining her skills and artistic vision.

With over a decade of experience in the industry, Camille has made a name for herself by emphasizing sustainability and cultural preservation in her designs. Her work often features handwoven cotton from Kalinga and luxurious silk from Japan, materials that are both environmentally friendly and deeply rooted in Filipino heritage. She is also known for her use of natural dyes and hand-painted details, which add a unique and personal touch to each piece. Camille's background in couture tailoring and draping is evident in the exquisite fit and finish of her garments, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics.

Camille’s collections are a testament to her commitment to artistry and sustainability. Her runway pieces, such as the asymmetrical dress with a blue central stripe, showcase her ability to merge modern silhouettes with traditional fabrics. Each garment is meticulously crafted to highlight the beauty and uniqueness of handwoven textiles, ensuring that no two pieces are exactly alike. In addition to her runway creations, Camille designs versatile everyday wear, such as the minimalist apron dress with distinctive striped back detail and the delicate pink slip dress. Through her work, she continues to champion slow fashion, promoting sustainability and cultural heritage in every thread and stitch.
